Blue Motion Energy versus Wind turbines
Blue Motion Energy has chosen for a robust reinforced concrete construction. In order to generate much power, long dams and a rotor with a sufficient diameter can be applied. Or smaller plants can be built together with a capacity of 30 MW. This equals 10 large wind turbines. The surface used bij the Blue Motion Energy sea turbine is much lower than the surface needed for wind turbines.
The sums of investment are considerably lower compared to those for wind turbines. Especially at places with high tides and waves the device is very pofitable.
If more plants can be built along a coastline a constant flow of energy can be generated. During a tidal change the plant generates little energy.
The moment of change differs between Hoek van Holland and IJmuiden, North Sea Netherlands.
Disadvantage of wind turbines is that no energy is generated when the wind force is too low.
